Not syncing
Steps aren't arriving, or stopped arriving.
-
Why aren't my steps updating in Steps Club?
Steps Club shows what Apple Health or Health Connect has, so the hold-up is usually a step app that hasn't sent yet. Step sync checks every link and shows the one thing to fix.
-
My step app shows steps, but Steps Club shows zero
Your step app hasn't sent its steps to Health Connect yet. Open that app's settings, find Health Connect, and allow Steps. Then open the app once so it sends today's steps.
-
Apple Health isn't counting my steps. What do I check?
Turn on Fitness Tracking. iPhone: Settings › Privacy & Security › Motion & Fitness. Apple Watch: Health › your profile picture › Devices › your watch › Privacy Settings. Other apps only see steps Health has.
-
How do I let Steps Club read my steps?
Turn on Steps for Steps Club. iPhone: Health › your profile picture › Apps › Steps Club. Apple doesn't tell apps it's off, so you'd just see 0. Android: Health Connect › App permissions (Samsung: Your health apps) › Steps Club.
-
Steps Club says it can't see or read my steps
Turn on Steps for Steps Club. It's the same switch whether you said Don't Allow when you joined or turned it off later. iPhone: Health › your profile picture › Apps › Steps Club, and check Fitness Tracking is on. Android: Health Connect › App permissions (Samsung: Your health apps) › Steps Club.
-
How do I check whether my watch app sent steps to Health Connect?
Open Health Connect and look at today's step entries. They show which apps saved steps. Your app isn't there? It hasn't sent any yet.
Health Connect › Data and access › Activity › Steps › Entries (or See all entries)

My steps were syncing, and then they stopped
Usually the app that counts your steps stopped sending them. Open your watch's app and let it sync, then open Steps Club and tap Refresh my steps. Still stuck? Tell us, and we'll take a look.
Steps Club › Settings › Step sync › Refresh my steps
-
Can I force my steps to sync?
Yes, in two hops. First open your watch's app so it syncs, or tap its Sync button. Then open the app you're checking. Steps Club reads Apple Health or Health Connect each time it opens.
-
Why don't my steps update in real time?
Phones and watch apps send steps on their own schedule, not as you walk. Opening an app pulls in whatever has arrived. In Steps Club, a live walk counts as you go.
-
Do I need an internet connection for my steps to count?
No. Your phone and watch keep counting offline. Your friends see your new total once Steps Club is back online.
-
Steps Club says it couldn't check or read my steps
Apple Health or Health Connect didn't answer this time. On iPhone, that's often because it was locked. Your steps aren't lost. Come back in a moment, or tap Refresh my steps on Step sync.
-
Steps Club says it couldn't read a day's steps
Health couldn't hand over that day, often because your iPhone's storage is full. Free up some space, and the day fills in. Until then it shows a dash, never a zero.
Settings › General › iPhone Storage
14 questions13 questions13 questions
Wrong number
Higher, lower or different from your watch.
-
Why are my steps lower than my watch or fitness app?
Usually your watch's app hasn't sent today's steps yet. Most send when the watch syncs or when you open the app. Open it, let your watch sync, and your steps catch up.
-
Steps Club says my app "hasn't sent steps since…"
That app sends steps only when it syncs or when you open it. Open it and let your watch sync. Once its steps reach Apple Health or Health Connect, Steps Club catches up.
-
Why don't my phone's and my watch's step counts match?
Each counts on its own, so they rarely match. Where both counted the same walk, Apple Health and Health Connect keep the one at the top of your list. Want your watch's count? Put it first.
-
Why is my count a few hundred off from my watch's app?
That's normal. Devices count differently, and Apple Health may recount a day after a late Watch sync. Steps Club keeps the number you saw. A gap of 10% or more means the wrong source is likely first.
-
Why do my WHOOP steps show up a day late?
WHOOP often doesn't send a day's steps to Apple Health or Health Connect until the next day. So today can run low while yesterday fills in.
-
Why are my Fitbit or Pixel Watch steps lower in other apps?
Other apps only see steps Google Health has synced. Open Google Health and let your tracker sync. Still lower? Put Google Health first in Apple Health or Health Connect.
-
Why did my step count go down?
Apple Health or Health Connect usually recounted the day: a watch synced late, your order changed, or an entry was removed. In Steps Club, a past day drops only for a big, confirmed correction, never to zero.
-
Why are my steps counted twice, or higher than my watch?
Health Connect is adding two apps: one that saves your whole day as one record sits below your phone. Put it first. Steps Club then lowers the days this phone saw counted twice, after a 15-minute recheck.
-
Why do I get steps while driving, cycling or on a bus?
Bumps and arm movement can look like steps to a phone or watch, so a ride can add a few. There's nothing to fix.
-
Why does my watch miss steps when I push a stroller or a cart?
Wrist trackers count your arm swing, so steps with your hands on a handle can be missed. That's how they count, not a fault. On those walks, a phone in your pocket counts too.
-
Why does my phone miss steps? Where should I carry it?
Your phone counts only while it's on you, so steps with it in a bag, on a desk or charging are missed. Keep it in a pocket, or wear a watch that shares its steps.
-
Do treadmill and indoor steps count?
Yes. Steps don't need GPS, so they count indoors when your phone is in your pocket or your watch arm can swing. Holding the rails, or leaving your phone on the console, means fewer steps.
-
How do I make my Apple Watch measure my walks more accurately?
Keep Wrist Detection on and your Health Details current. To improve distance and pace, calibrate it: with Motion Calibration & Distance on, do a 20-minute Outdoor Walk workout on flat, open ground with good GPS.
Settings › Privacy & Security › Location Services › System Services › Motion Calibration & Distance
-
How do I delete a wrong or duplicate step entry?
iPhone: Health › Search (or Browse) › Activity › Steps › Show All Data › Edit. Android: Health Connect › Data and access › Activity › Steps › Entries (or See all entries). A small fix may not lower Steps Club's number.

-
Can I use a Galaxy Watch with an iPhone?
Not a Galaxy Watch4 or newer: Samsung says they don't work with an iPhone. A few older ones pair through Samsung's Galaxy Watch app. Either way, your iPhone still counts your steps in Apple Health.
-
What happened to the Fitbit app? My Fitbit steps stopped showing up.
The Fitbit app is now Google Health. Apps linked straight to Fitbit need reconnecting before October 30, 2026. Apple Health and Health Connect sharing keeps working: turn it on in Google Health › Connections.

-
Why don't my Activity rings move with my Garmin or Oura?
Garmin and Oura say their steps don't fill Apple's Activity rings. Those steps still count in your step total in Health.
-
How do I connect Oura to Apple Health or Health Connect?
Turn on sharing in Oura's settings and allow Steps, then open Oura so your ring syncs. Gen3 and later rings need an active Oura membership for this.
Oura › menu (top left) › Settings › Data sharing › Apple Health or Health Connect
Full guide -
Why aren't my Oura steps in Health Connect?
Oura needs your OK first. In Oura's settings, under Data sharing, tap Health Connect and allow Steps, then open Oura so it sends them. Used Google Fit before? Oura doesn't anymore.
-
Why are my Oura steps behind in Apple Health or Health Connect?
Oura sends steps after your ring syncs with the Oura app, so open Oura and let it sync. On iPhone, Oura says Apple Health updates after you finish an activity or workout.
-
Do I need an Oura membership to share steps?
For Gen3 and later rings, yes: sharing with Apple Health or Health Connect needs an active membership. An Oura Ring 2 shares without one.
-
How do I connect WHOOP to Apple Health or Health Connect?
Turn it on in WHOOP and allow Steps. iPhone: More › App Settings › Integrations › Apple Health. Android: More › Account & Settings › Integrations › Health Connect. Steps often arrive the next day.
-
WHOOP is connected, but no WHOOP steps show up at all
Just connected? Give it a day: WHOOP often sends a day's steps the next day. Still nothing? Check Steps is allowed, not just sleep or workouts, and that you wear a 4.0, 5.0 or MG.
-
How do I get my Apple Watch steps into the Health app?
There's nothing to connect: Apple Watch sends steps to Health on its own. Missing? Turn on Fitness Tracking and keep the watch near your iPhone.
Health › profile picture › Devices › Apple Watch › Privacy Settings › Fitness Tracking

-

Put that app at the top: tap its three dots (⋮), then Move up. Where apps counted the same minutes, the one on top wins. The order can't add steps an app hasn't sent yet.
Health Connect › Manage data › Data sources and priority › Activity

Can I choose my step source in Steps Club?
Not in Steps Club. It follows the order you set in Apple Health or Health Connect, so change it there. Steps Club can sit a little above that number, after a live walk for example.

Settings › General › Background App Refresh
Full guide -
Does Low Power Mode stop my steps syncing?
It slows background updates, but no steps are lost. Your iPhone keeps counting, and your steps catch up when Low Power Mode is off or you open the app.
Settings › Battery › Low Power Mode (iPhone 15 and later: Power Mode)
Full guide -
Steps Club says my phone is limiting it to save battery
Your phone is holding Steps Club back to save battery, so steps arrive late. Android: Settings › Apps › Steps Club › Battery › Unrestricted. iPhone: that's Low Power Mode, and steps catch up once it's off.

History and timing
Past days, a new phone, and what happens at midnight.
-
Will my Steps Club history come with me to a new phone?
Yes: sign in the same way on your new phone. Phone number and email work on iPhone and Android; Apple sign-in is iPhone only, Google Android only. Using Steps Club as a guest? Save your progress first.
Steps Club › Settings › Save my progress
-
I got a new iPhone, and my steps in Health are missing
Health history moves through iCloud. On both phones, sign in to the same Apple Account and turn on Health in iCloud, then give it time. Then check Steps Club can still read your steps.
Settings › your name › iCloud › Show All › Health
-
I'm switching between iPhone and Android. What happens to my steps?
Apple Health and Health Connect history doesn't move between them. Your Steps Club history does, if you sign in with your phone number or email. Signed in with Apple or Google? Write to us first.
Steps Club › Settings › Support › Send us a note
-
Does deleting Steps Club delete my steps?
No. Your steps stay in Apple Health or Health Connect, and your history stays with your Steps Club account. Reinstall, sign in the same way and allow step access again. A guest? Save your progress first.
-
Steps from before I installed Steps Club are missing
Health Connect shares only the 30 days before you first connected Steps Club, not before today, unless you allow older data. Allow it in Health Connect, then open Steps Club: it reads the year again.
Health Connect › App permissions (Samsung: Your health apps) › Steps Club
-
Why do I see steps from before I installed Steps Club?
Your phone has been counting all along. Steps Club reads up to a year of it from Apple Health, or from Health Connect once you let it read older data.
-
When does a day end for my steps?
At midnight where you are. Steps that reach Steps Club after midnight still count for the day you walked them.
-
What happens to my steps when I travel across time zones?
Today follows your phone's current time zone. Days already synced keep the zone you lived them in, so travel doesn't move steps between days. A friend elsewhere may be on a different day.
-
Can Health Connect delete my old steps automatically?
Yes, if auto-delete is on: it removes data older than the period you choose. Turn it off to keep your history. Steps Club keeps the days it already synced.
Health Connect › Manage data › Set auto-delete

Phones and versions
Health Connect, Apple Health and older phones.
-
Steps Club says nothing is counting my steps
Nothing has saved your steps lately. On iPhone, turn on Fitness Tracking in Settings › Privacy & Security › Motion & Fitness. On Android, allow Physical activity so Steps Club counts with your phone, or turn on Health Connect sharing in your watch's app.
-
Steps Club says my phone is counting my steps
That works: your phone counts your steps on its own. Steps you take without your phone are missed, though. Wear a watch? Turn on Health Connect sharing in its app.
-
Steps Club says I need Health Connect
Steps Club reads your steps through Health Connect, and your phone doesn't have it yet. On Android 13 and older it's a separate app: get it from the Play Store, then open Steps Club again.
-
Steps Club says Health Connect needs an update
Your Health Connect is too old to share steps. Android 14 and up: install the latest Google Play system update (search Settings for it). Android 13 and older: update Health Connect in the Play Store.
-
Does Steps Club work on Android 13 and older?
Yes, from Android 9. Once Physical activity is allowed, Steps Club counts with your phone, even while it's closed. Wear a watch? Turn on Health Connect sharing in its app too.
-
Can I use Steps Club on an iPad or in a work profile?
Only on your phone. Steps Club reads your steps on your phone, not an iPad, and Health Connect doesn't work in an Android work profile. Use Steps Club on your phone, in your personal profile.
-
Does my phone need a step sensor?
Usually not. iPhones count steps on their own. On Android, Steps Club counts with your phone once you allow Physical activity, and Health Connect does too from Android 14. Otherwise, use a watch or step app.
-
Why is an app under "Inactive apps" in Health Connect?
It was uninstalled, removed from the Play Store, or lost its access, but its old data is still there. To share again, reinstall it, or allow it again in Health Connect › App permissions.

Steps Club
Friends, streaks, Step sync and your account.
-
What is Step sync in Steps Club?
Step sync checks each link between your watch, Apple Health or Health Connect, and Steps Club. It shows the one thing to fix and, when it can, a button that fixes it.
Steps Club › Settings › Step sync
-
What is the "Your number" page in Steps Club?
Your number explains today's count: every app that sent steps, how many and when, and which one counts first. If something's off, it says why and offers one fix.
Steps Club › Settings › Step sync › Why is my number different?
-
Why does my ring show a dash and "not syncing"?
Steps Club found something stopping your steps from reaching it, so it shows a dash rather than a zero it can't trust. Step sync names the one thing to fix.
Steps Club › Settings › Step sync
-
Steps Club says to put another app first. What does that do?
It makes that app's count the one that wins. Apple Health or Health Connect is using another source first, one that counted fewer steps. Move that app to the top of your list.
-
Steps Club asks if I left my watch behind today
Nothing's broken. Your phone counted more than your watch today, maybe while the watch was charging. Where your watch counted, its count wins. What your phone counted while it was off still counts.
-
Why do my friends' steps look out of date?
You see what their phone last sent. If they haven't opened Steps Club lately, or background updates are off on their phone, their number lags. It catches up when their phone syncs.
-
Why did a friend's or a club's total for yesterday change?
Their last steps reached Steps Club after midnight, and late steps count on the day they were walked. So a day's total can still change after it ends, usually up.
-
My steps are right on Home but not in my club
Clubs show the total your phone last sent. Tap Refresh my steps, and your club catches up within a couple of minutes.
-
Do my friends see my watch's steps or my phone's?
They see your day total, the same number as your ring. Where your phone and watch both counted, that's the one first on your list. They never see each app's count.
-
Yesterday's steps are stuck, and my club shows an old total
Yesterday's last steps reach Steps Club at its next sync. Open your watch's app so it sends them, then open Steps Club: it reads yesterday first, and your clubs catch up.
-
I hit my goal, but I lost my streak
A goal you hit stays hit, even if the count drops later, and steps that sync within a week count for their day. A missed day before it, with no rest day left, ends a streak.
-
Why isn't my Steps Club widget updating?
Your phone decides how often widgets refresh. Steps Club refreshes its widgets after each sync, so opening it updates them right away. With background updates on, they also refresh on their own.
-
I got a notification that my steps stopped syncing
Steps Club hasn't had new steps from your phone for two days, so friends still see an old number. Tap the notification. Step sync opens with the one thing to fix.
Steps Club › Settings › Step sync
-
Can I add steps by hand in Steps Club?
Not in Steps Club, which shows your health app's total. On iPhone you can add steps in Health, and they count. On Android, use your step app, if it lets you.
Health › Search (or Browse) › Activity › Steps › Add Data

My live walk showed more steps than Apple Health or Health Connect
On a live walk, Steps Club counts with your phone as you go. That walk's count never goes down: Apple Health or Health Connect can raise it later, never lower it.
-
Does Steps Club add steps to Apple Health or Health Connect?
No. Steps Club only reads your steps, so it can't add to or double them in Apple Health or Health Connect.
-
Why do two screens in Steps Club show different numbers?
Your ring updates first. Clubs and your friends' feeds update at the next sync, so they can trail a little. Still different after you reopen Steps Club? Tell us.
-
Why does Steps Club ask for Physical activity access?
So Steps Club can count steps with your phone, even while it's closed: on live walks, and when no watch or step app sends steps. It starts when you allow it and holds up to 10 days.
Steps Club › Settings › Your steps › Count steps on this phone
-
How do I report wrong steps in Steps Club?
Tell us what your watch or app shows. The form adds what your phone sees, so you don't need screenshots. Reporting doesn't change your count.
Steps Club › Settings › Step sync › Why is my number different? › Still looks wrong? Tell us
-
Does Steps Club count wheelchair pushes?
No. Steps Club reads steps only, and Apple Health and Health Connect keep wheelchair pushes as their own count, so pushes don't show up in Steps Club.
-
What does "Tell us" send, and when should I use it?
Use it when Step sync couldn't fix it. It sends your note, what your watch says, and a summary of what your phone sees, like which apps send steps. Never your step history.
Steps Club › Settings › Step sync › Why is my number different? › Still looks wrong? Tell us
